AREA ATTORNEYS AND FIRMS RECOGNIZED FOR PROVIDING
FREE LEGAL SERVICES TO IMPOVERISHED NEW JERSEYANS
EDISON— Area attorneys and law firms—and a program at Princeton University—have received special recognition for their efforts in making sure low-income residents of New Jersey have equal access to justice.
Five attorneys and two law firms in Mercer County received Equal Justice Medals and recognition as “Major Contributors” of pro bono legal assistance by Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) for providing numerous hours of free legal services for destitute New Jerseyans. Unable to afford private attorneys, these individuals and families were facing serious civil legal problems that were dealt with through the efforts of the following:
· Richard A. Goldberg of Goldberg & Associates, Ewing
· Robert Lytle of Szaferman, Lakind, Blumstein & Blader, Lawrenceville
· Suzanne M. McSorley of Stevens & Lee, Lawrenceville (Also see below.)
· Pepper Hamilton, Princeton
· Reed Smith, Princeton
· Christine A. Stearns of Gibbons, Trenton
· Natalia Teper, Pennington
In addition to receiving the Equal Justice Medal, McSorley received the William J. Brennan, Jr. Citation for Justice, in tandem with the Princeton Internships in Civic Service (PICS), for which she is the Development Chair. This award is reserved for those who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to furthering the mission and work of the state’s Legal Services programs.
