The Sixth Annual Miracles for Myeloma 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, at Oak Ridge Park, 136 Oak Ridge Road, in Clark. The course is staged entirely within the park on paved paths and is a USATF certified course...people of all ages are encouraged to participate in this community-wide fundraiser. Miracles for Myeloma raised over $78,000 at last year's event that went directly to the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), towards a research grant awards at the ASH conference in December. Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer of the plasma cells which attacks and destroys bone.
The entry fee is $30 per walker or runner until September 1st...then after that the fee is $35. Children's fees are $20. Runners may also register on the day of the event. For pre-registered participants, T-shirts and event bags will be distributed. Awards will be given for the best times in the various age categories. All proceeds will be donated to the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF). Registration will open at 8.00 am, with the race officially starting at 9:30 am.
A Remembrance Path, where maroon and white balloons tied to placards with the names of people being honored or remembered will be featured. Maroon balloons are designated for patients living with Myeloma or other forms of cancer and the white balloons are in remembrance of those who have passed on from cancer. Anyone can purchase these placards for an additional $25 donation.
