Showtime will premiere its new dark comedy series On Becoming a God in Central Florida on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kirsten Dunst, the 10-episode series is a story about the cult of free enterprise and one woman’s relentless pursuit of the American Dream. The series also stars Théodore Pellerin, Mel Rodriguez, Beth Ditto and Ted Levine. Set in a small Orlando-adjacent town in 1992, On Becoming God in Central Florida follows Krystal Stubbs, a minimum-wage water park employee who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise (FAM), the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place, run by the powerful Obie Garbeau II. Determined to make a better life for herself, Krystal dives deep into FAM and develops a tangled relationship with FAM’s most loyal and fanatical follower Cody, until her business begins to affect those closest to her.

Burrow into the magical depths of Australian animal life as unique species navigate extremes on land and sea when PBS premieres its 3-part series Magical Land of Oz on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 10 p.m. ET (check your local listings). Blue chip cameras capture the continent’s diverse animal populations in its highest snow peaks, frigid southern seas and suburban backyards. On the premiere episode, Land, be prepared for an exploration of one of the most magical lands on the planet. Its unique wildlife includes a tree-dwelling kangaroo, a spider that survives underwater and a bird that spreads fire. Then on the Sept. 4 at 10 p.m. ET Ocean episode, it’s a natural history exploration of Australia’s magical coasts and islands where three oceans create the perfect environment for whales, giant cuttlefish and sharks. On the final episode, Human, airing Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. ET, an exploration of Australia’s mesmerizing wildlife and how they’ve adapted to survive in the human environment, including a flamboyant dancing peacock spider in a suburban garden.

Streaming service, Amazon Prime Video, will premiere its new series Carnival Row on Friday, Aug. 30. Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne star in this series, set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. Coexisting with humans proves to be a struggle for these creatures.
