El-Badawi, Ferrante ahead for two open seats on the Township Committee

Democrats Eman El-Badawi and incumbent Michael Ferrante have seemingly secured two open seats on the Cranbury Township Committee.

Each seat carries a three-year term.

The results of the General Election on Nov. 2 reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office,as of Nov. 3.

The results of the general election will remain unofficial until they are certified by the county.

El-Badawi and Ferrante squared off against Republican candidates Robert Bolger and Cynthia Hughes-Smithers during the 2021 General Election.

Ferrante received 817 votes, El-Badawi received 757 votes, Hughes-Smithers earned 658 votes and Bolger earned 656 votes, as of press time.

The Township Committee will maintain a Democratic majority if the current results are finalized. The Township Committee currently consists of three Democrats members, one Republican member and one unaffiliated member.
