Colts Neck honors retiring municipal clerk

COLTS NECK – The members of the Colts Neck Township Committee have honored municipal clerk Beth Kara as she prepares to retire from her position. Kara has worked for the township for 14 years.

A proclamation recognizing Kara for her service to the municipality was read by Township Administrator Kathleen Capristo on behalf of the committee members during the July 10 meeting of the governing body.

Kara’s career includes 20 years with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and 10 years in the private sector. She was hired by Colts Neck in 2005 as an administrative assistant in the Department of Recreation and Parks.

Later in 2005, Kara was promoted to the positions of assistant administrator and deputy municipal clerk. In 2015, she was promoted to municipal clerk. Kara will retire on July 31.

“The mayor, Township Committee and I sincerely thank Ms. Kara for her many years of dedicated service to the township and the entire Colts Neck community,” Capristo said. “We wish her all the best in her retirement.”

During the meeting, committee members hired Trina Lindsey as Colts Neck’s new municipal clerk, assistant to the township administrator and website coordinator.

Lindsey has spent the past 10 years as the deputy municipal clerk, qualified purchasing agent and deputy registrar in Bedminster, Somerset County.

“We welcome Ms. Trina Lindsey as the new municipal clerk,” Capristo said. “Ms. Lindsey joins us after 10 successful years of service with Bedminster and we are confident she will make an immediate and positive impact.”

The municipal clerk’s position includes serving as secretary to the governing body and as the township’s election official, custodian of records and licensing officer.
