SAYREVILLE – Two hip hop artists from Sayreville are continuing to further their musical careers with the releases of their solo mixtapes.

A new mixtape was released on Aug. 16 by Joe Magliocco, who goes by the stage name Yung Mag$, while Sam Meyer, who goes by the stage name Sammy $tacks, has a mixtape scheduled to be released on Oct. 1.

Magliocco’s mixtape, entitled “Born a Star,” consists of five tracks. It can be streamed on Yung Mag$’s SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/user-665279185

“I put my heart and soul into this mixtape and I think that it is personally my best work that I have put out to this date,” Magliocco said. “The mixtape consists of music that makes you want to mosh and also has a track titled ‘Envy Me’ where I aimed to send a deeper message to the listener to chase your dreams and never let anyone stop you from doing what you love.”

“Basements To Billboards” will be Meyer’s first solo mixtape and will consist of seven songs. It will available on Sammy $tack’s SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/sammy-stacks-34

“One song featured on the tape titled ‘It’s My Time’ is already released, but I’m choosing to put it on here because the song explains my journey through life and music, including some of my biggest successes as well as my biggest obstacles,” Meyer said. “The best way to describe this upcoming mixtape would be to say that it will be full of not only the highest energy levels around, but also an immense amount of comedic word play.”

Magliocco, a Jackson native who has lived in Sayreville for eight years, and Meyer, a lifelong resident of Sayreville, have performed together since their first show in Asbury Park on May 20, 2018. The debut mixtape from both artists, entitled the “Mag$ and $tacks Mixtape”, was released on SoundCloud on Jan. 1.

The two artists took part in their first hometown show in March and have since performed in more than six shows in New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York City, with the possibility of future shows being held outside of the United States.

“In the midst of doing these shows in various states, we also acquired a hefty amount of new followers ranging from the United States and also reaching out to neighboring countries such as United Kingdom, Iceland, Germany and many more,” they said.

To help build their brand, Magliocco and Meyer have created stickers and an official logo for Mag$ and $tacks, with merchandise such as shirts, hoodies and sweatpants in the works.

Although they are releasing solo mixtapes, the duo is also working on a follow-up to the “Mag$ and $tacks Mixtape”.

“There is no set release date for the ‘Mag$ & $tacks Mixtape Pt. 2’ but just know that it’s in the works and the wait will be worth it,” Magilocco and Meyer said.

Magliocco’s and Meyer’s next performance will take place on Sept. 20 at 179 South Street, Freehold Borough. The event is presented by 1012 Entertainment LLC and doors will open at 6 p.m.
