Hightstown High School students advance in DECA competition

Fifty members of the Hightstown DECA Chapter placed in the Top 14 in their event at the Blue Central Regional Competition held recently at Kean University.

At this competition hundreds of DECA members competed in a variety of categories ranging from fashion merchandising to accounting and sports and entertainment marketing. Leading the Hightstown team were advisors Kelsey Petrasek and Nicole Akromas.

The Hightstown High School chapter qualifiers will now compete in the New Jersey DECA competition Feb. 28.

DECA is a career and technical student organization composed of more than 210,000 students who are interested in careers in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality or management. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition.
