Bill Schmedes III, Director of Instruction for the Forsgate Golf Academy  at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, is officially a master.

Future Champions Golf, a San Diego based organization that focuses on junior player development and sponsors junior golf tournaments, named Schmedes a “Master Coach” on Jan. 14.

Schmedes was one of just 16 instructors nationwide to receive the distinction. The New Jersey based coach was eligible for the honor because he twice earned a “Top 25 Elite Junior Golf Coach Award” from Forsgate Country Club in the past.

“Everyone at Forsgate is extremely proud of Bill and what he has achieved when it comes to teaching junior golfers,” said Carolyn McKenzie Andrews, Forsgate’s Director of Golf. “Bill has added another dimension to our golf instruction and his national recognition really puts the spotlight on the club and our top tier junior golf programs.”

Schmedes has been working with junior golfers for years. He has coached at least 14 players who reached the professional level on the PGA, LPGA, European or tours. He has helped more than 50 players earn collegiate golf scholarships.
