MANVILLE: Scouts cross the bridge
Awards given to Boy Scouts and their leaders
Manville Scouts of Troop 193 and Pack 193 were honored Feb. 8 at the annual Blue & Gold Dinner at the VFW Post 2290. About 145 people attended.

The Tom Strong Memorial Award was presented to "someone who just jumps to your aid, not necessarily a leader, but someone who is there when we need him the most." Steve Budd received this honor but could not attend.

The Cub Scout of the Year ended to be a tie with Wyatt Hamilton and Todd Petersen. The Cub Scout Leader was Wendy Barras. Boy Scout of the Year was Matt Henrys and the Boy Scouter of the Year was Larissa Mattei.

Intimate and Powerful
Maureen McGovern is bringing her tribute to female singer-songwriters to New Hope
MAUREEN McGovern was performing at an AIDS benefit in San Francisco several years ago, an event that also featured fellow singer Helen Reddy, a contemporary of Ms. McGovern’s during the 1970s.

After 9/11, Ms. Reddy — the “Queen of ‘70s Pop” as she was known during that decade — quit performing for a time and returned to her native Australia, where she became a licensed hypnotherapist.

The San Francisco benefit would be Ms. Reddy’s first time back performing on stage in a while.
