MANVILLE: Grumbling over Rustic Mall plan
Community center is absent from unveiled project
The public wasn’t pleased with preliminary plans for the former Rustic Mall site redevelopment, off South Main Street, presented by Joe Korn of Rustic Mall LLC at Monday night’s Borough Council meeting.

Councilmen Richard Onderko and Stephen Szabo weren’t happy either.

The dissatisfaction revolves around two issues — a $1 million community center that won’t be built, and new 2-bedroom apartments that will house children the town can’t afford to educate because the schools are already filled to capacity.

A Jazzy Collaboration
Fred Hersch will team up with Julian Lage for a concert at McCarter Theatre
PIANIST Fred Hersch has long been considered one of the top jazz standard pianists playing today, as evidenced by his six Grammy nominations and more than three dozen critically acclaimed recordings as a composer, bandleader and theatrical innovator.

Julian Lage is a 25-year-old guitar prodigy who was the subject of an Academy Award-nominated documentary, Jules at Eight, and whose first album Sounding Point, was nominated for a Best Contemporary Jazz album Grammy in 2010.

The two met three years ago when Mr. Hersch was relaxing at a Boston-based Starbucks and Mr. Lage approached him about his music.
