   With the exception of the gubernatorial race, voters showed a marked preference for incumbent local and state legislators in Tuesday night’s election. But in many towns, the results were barely in question due to a lack of opponents in local races.
   Area voters turned out Tuesday for a number of contested local races.
   Several area events are planned to honor Veterans Day this year with ceremonies and dedications.
   BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — The Township Committee unanimously approved the purchase of a new police vehicle and radio system last week and joined a regional planning project, among other business.
   Students in some area school districts will have the chance to receive H1N1 flu inoculations this month, thanks to three county-run clinics.

   MANSFIELD — An Egg Harbor City man faces several charges after police said he stole from two vehicles and lied to police about being carjacked.
   BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — Clifton Mill residents upset about the expansion of the nearby NJ Turnpike will have a thicker buffer of trees between them and the highway, the NJ Turnpike Authority told township officials this week.
   Tuesday, voters throughout the state will be able to cast their vote for governor.
   Violence in area high school districts was generally static last year, according to statistics compiled by school administrators.
   Voters in most towns will have choices to make in their municipalities and legislative districts this year in addition to the county competition for freeholders and the statewide race for governor.
   BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — While the regional school district’s Dec. 8 referendum includes two projects totaling nearly $8.5 million, it will not raise school taxes, officials said.

POLITICS: Democratic officials ponder life with a GOP governor

" I don't expect Democratic municipal officials to be happy but I would prefer they not be stupid. For the good of their towns --not to mention the state-- they need a cooperative relationship with this governor. As for Democratic state legislators-- they barely cooperated with a Democratic governor so I'm not holding my breath. "

" The corruption is pandemic in the State of NJ. One can hope iwith new LT Gov who is a sheriff and new Attorney General rather then the corrupt Jon Corzine and Anne MIlgram who did NOT enforce NJ criminal codes against corrupt officials that things can only improve. "
