The Princeton Police Department is investigating two burglaries on Leavitt Lane and Nassau Street that occurred on May 22 and May 23.

In both instances, the burglars allegedly entered the houses through unlocked windows and rummaged through multiple rooms, police said.

The burglar entered the Leavitt Lane home on May 22 through an unlocked window and pried open a locked door in the basement to gain entry to the rest of the house.

Once inside the house, the burglar rummaged through several rooms and took $4,000 in cash. A 10-ounce silver bar and 20 Silver Eagle collector’s coins also were stolen from a drawer.

The total value of the stolen items was about $8,200, police said.

On May 23, police responded to a burglary-in-progress at a Nassau Street home after the victim reported seeing a man leaving the house through a first-floor bathroom window.

Police determined that the burglar likely had broken into the house through the unlocked bathroom window. Several cabinets and drawers throughout the home were found open and had been rummaged through.

The total value of the stolen items was about $8,800.
