More than 100 trees will be planted on streets and in parks around town, including Cherry Hill Road, Cherry Valley Road, Moore Street and Walnut Lane in the next few weeks.

The Princeton Council awarded a contract for $57,322 to Clarke Moynihan Landscaping and Construction LLC to plant 130 trees.

The Andover-based company was one of 13 bidders for the job. The bids ranged from a high bid of $127,400 to the low bid of $57,322 submitted by Clarke Moynihan Landscaping and Construction LLC.

The town’s Department of Infrastructure and Operations issues bid opportunities in the spring and fall for the planting of trees in the municipal rights-of-way and on other municipally-owned land, Municipal Arborist Taylor Sapudar wrote in a memorandum to the Princeton Council.

“The project is to accommodate vacant planting pits primarily due to trees being removed for condition and disease and insect outbreaks,” Sapudar wrote.

In addition, trees will be planted in various parks throughout the town to replace trees that were removed last year. Those parks include Greenway Meadows, formerly known as the Gen. Robert Wood Johnson estate on Rosedale Road.

Multiple London Plane trees were removed from Greenway Meadows because of their condition, Sapudar wrote. They will be replaced to replicate the historical allée of trees.
