Joan M. Thomas (nee Meagher), 77, of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2024, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, she was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School’s Class of 1965. She and her husband then settled in Hamilton to raise their family. Joan was incredibly sharp and took great pride in her many accomplishments. She masterfully balanced her work and home life, dedicating the best of herself to both.
In her spare time, Joan enjoyed swimming, bowling, and vacationing in Florida. She loved baking family recipes and spending time with her 7 grandchildren.
Joan held many jobs during her career. She ran her own typing service business for over 20 years for the New York City Court system in addition to contract work for multiple real estate groups, law firms, and medical publications. She then retired from Caliper Corp. in Princeton, New Jersey in 2014.
She is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and James Meagher, Sr.; her brother, James J. “Jack” Meagher, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Darcy Meagher. Joan’s memory will be carried on by her loving husband of 54 years, Michael Thomas; her children and grandchildren, Brian Thomas (Charles and Jacqueline), Jeffrey Thomas and his wife, Marci, James Thomas (Ashley and James, Jr.), and Kimberly Thomas (Kayli, Dereck, and Jacob); her brother, Thomas Meagher and his wife, Audrey; and her sister, Mary Sanderson and her husband, Edward; as well as many nieces, nephews and close cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 3816 East State Street Extension, Hamilton, NJ.
Cremation will be held privately.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
